Kotor, Montenegro

Montenegro on pieni maa ja välimatkat ovat lyhyitä. Budvasta käsin on helppo tehdä päiväretkiä mm. Cetinjeen ja Kotoriin. Molempiin kaupunkeihin matka kesti bussilla n. 35 minuuttia ja matka yhteen suuntaan maksoi 3 euroa. Hinnat ovat Montenegrossa selvästi kalliimmat kuin muualla Balkanilla ja kun käytössä oleva valuutta on euro, hinnat tajuaa liiankin hyvin. Budva on turistikaupunki ja täällä voi viettää rantalomaa, lähteä merelle purjehtimaan tai vaikka vuorille vaeltamaan. Yllättävää kyllä, maisema täällä on välillä kuin Norjassa; hyvin vuonomaista. Vesi on kaikkialla kirkasta ja ilmeisesti myös puhdasta. Vaikka meren äärellä ollaan, ovat kalaruuat kalliita. Esim. pizzan saa 7-9 eurolla, mutta kalaruuasta joutuu maksamaan 20-40 euroa. Paikallista ruokaa ei ole tarjolla, minulla ei ole aavistustakaan, minkälaista montenegrolainen kotiruoka on. Täälläkin, kuten kaikkialla muuallakin, pikaruokakulttuuri kukoistaa.

Cetinje on Montenegron vanha pääkaupunki, mutta nykyään se on unelias pikkukaupunki - viehättävä sellainen. Kaupunki sijaitsee Lovcen -vuoren rinteellä. Asukkaita siellä on noin 14 000 ja vain joitakin turisteja. Ihmetyttää, että siellä on mm. Ranskan ja Yhdysvaltojen konsulaatit. Mutta toisaalta, onhan siellä myös Montenegron presidentin virka-asunto.

Kotor sijaitsee Kotorinlahden poukamassa ja vuorten ympäröimänä. Vanha kaupunki on yksi kauneimmista, mitä olen koskaan nähnyt. Kaupungin yllä 300 merrin korkeudessa kohoaa linnake. Askeleita ylös mennessä kertyy kuulemma 1 350 ja matkaa on 1,2 kilometriä. Voi ollakin, ainakin jalat ovat aivan hyytelönä kipuamisen jälkeen.

Montenegro is a small country and all the distances are short. It is easy to make day trips from Budva for example to Cetinje and Kotor. It took 35 minutes by bus to both of those towns and a single ticket cost 3 euros. Everything is more expensive here than in the other countries in Balkans. And when the currency is euro, you understand the prices almost too well. Budva is a turist spot and you can spend a beach holiday here, take a boat trip or hike on the mountains. Suprisingly the landscape is similar to Norway and its fjords. The sea water is clear and apparently it is also clean. Even we are at the seaside, the fish food is really expensive. You can get a pizza for 7-9 euros, but a fish meal costs 20-40 euros. There is only fast food restaurants here, as everywhere else, so I don't have an idea how traditional Montenegrin food is.

Cetinje is the old royal capital of Montenegro. Nowadays it is a sleepy small town - very picturesque one. It is located mountainside and there is only 14 000 inhabitants in Cetinje and I'm just wondering why the embassies of France and UK are located there. But on the other hand, there is also the official residence of the President of Montenegro. 

Kotor is located in a secluded part of the Gulf of Kotor and it is surrounded by the mountains. The old town is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The fortress rises up to 300 meters from the sea level. Someone has counted, that there is 1 350 steps and 1,2 kilometers to the top. That´s very possible, at least my legs are like jelly after climbing.
