Rooma, Italia
Kaikki tiet vievät Roomaan. Edellisestä Italian vierailusta on ehtinyt vierähtää jo tovi, joten mielenkiinnolla odotan Rooman ja lähiseudun antimia. Odotukset italialaisen ruuan suhteen ovat korkella; saas nähdä kuinka käy. Ainakin risottoa ja jäätelöä täytyy maistaa - ehkä useammankin kerran. Viinejä varmaan tulee maisteltua ja ehkäpä myös grappaa ja limoncelloa. Ruuan lisäksi odotan kauniita kaupunkimaisemia sekä historian ja nykypäivän rinnakkaiseloa. Ja vespoja ja Fiateja.
Matka kotoa Helsinki-Vantaan lentokentälle on nykyään jännittävä seikkailu. Pisararata on avattu muutama kuukausi sitten ja edellisen kerran pääsin junalla melkein lentokentälle saakka. Rataa ei ollut saatu aikataulussa valmiiksi ja viimeinen pysäkkiväli taittui bussilla. Nyt pääsin junalla perille asti, mutta tunnelin liukuportaat eivät olleet vielä toiminnassa, joten jonotimme ja ahtauduimme kahteen toiminnassa olleeseen hissiin. Hyvä niin, ehkä ensi kerralla sitten koko matka taittuu joustavasti perille saakka.
Fiumicinosta Leonardo da Vincin lentokentältä päästiin helposti Rooman keskustaan junalla. Ykkösluokassa. Matka maksoi ruhtinaalliset 14 €, kakkosluokan lippu olisi maksanut kahdeksan euroa. Junaa tosin olisi joutunut odottamaan kolmisen tuntia.

All roads lead to Rome. It has been a while since my last trip to Italy so I am really looking forward to Rome and its' surroundings. My expectations on the Italian kitchen are high, we'll see if they can fulfill their excellent reputation. Risotto and gelato are on my must try-list - I might have to taste them multiple times just to be sure. I am certain we will test wines and perhaps even grappa and limoncello. Besides food I cannot wait to see the beautiful city view and the mix of history and modern times. Not to forget the Vespas and Fiats.
My trip from home to the airport is nowadays an exciting experience. The so called Droplet Rail has been opened a couple of months ago. Last time I almost got to the airport via train. The railway was not finished in time and the last stops were taken with a bus. Now I got to the airport by the train, but the escelators of the tunnel were not working yet. We had to wait and stuff ourselves to two elevators. It was fine that way, maybe next time the whole journey to the airport will go smoothly.
From Fiumicino, Leonardo da Vinci airport it was easy to take a train to city center. First class ticket coast 14 euros. (In Helsinki about 5 euros.) The second class ticket coast eight euros nut we should have waited almost three hours.
